Hey there… its been a while.. glad to see some familiar faces on here still….
I have a couple guitars on the bench right now - I should get the camera in the shop …
Some nice stuff on here too lately...
Look I had a bunch of well, I guess you'd call them second materials I didn't wanna waste.. a rosewood fb with too much wander… some cut outs from mahogany acoustic neck construction ($3 a piece at a local hardware store)… an electric mahogany/rosewood striped neck with a wormhole in it… etc
I decided to throw together a quick lap steel.. with all that stuff.. I saw a cool article and Ive always wanted one for warming up tracks… and I managed to scab things together in such a way that the body sort of resembles a fancy coke bottle and the striped 3/4" neck blank will make a nice neck/peghead… it will be complimented with Strat hardware..and some old crappy tuners from a cheap acoustic..
It should make a slightly upgraded hobo lap steel...
but because the neck is merely an electric blank..and 3/4" .. with a slight defect.. I thought maybe it would be best to throw a truss rod in… kind of stiffen it up.
I have a bunch of Martin style channel truss rods.. they came in packages with I believe "Golden Gate" on them or something… they are merely medium quality @ best… and they are approx 13.5" I think… I realize that they are for sound hole access on a 14" or so… smaller preferably acoustic instrument… but could I use them in a peg head orientation? on a lap steel?
I realize its probably a stupid question but I have been using hot rods exclusively… and they are so problem free for me I haven't had the inclination for anything that would potentially be a headache late on… (especially seeing as these require epoxying correct?)
Thanks in advance if anyone can be helpful…

cheers
