Hello everyone, i’m new here so I apologize if this subject was touched on in another forum thread. This is my first build and i accidentally either made the bridge pick up cavity too deep or the tremolo cavity too deep. When i turned the guitar over to route the tremolo cavity at the depth of 11/16” (according to the template i used) i went through to the bridge pick up cavity, which was routed to a depth of 13/16” (21mm). Most likely i either mis measured and the body wasn’t truly 1-1/2” thick. Here is a picture of the mistake. Would there be a way to fix it? Or should i scrap it. Also what would be the best way to be sure this doesn’t happen again. Obviously measuring is number one but is their a suggested order of operations, like what to start and end a build with? Any help would be appreciated

Do the parts fit in the appropriate holes at the same time? If so, you ought to be able to install them and move on. If there’s not enough room for the pickup and the tremolo simultaneously, then a thicker body might be the answer.

Yes they fit no problem. The only issue i’m worried about is the possibility of feedback that might happen with the trem springs open to the back of the bridge pick ups. Or do you think the pickups wont have an issue with it open? Also thank you for responding

This is common on many Fender Strat copies I service. No feedback troubles that I've heard of. Don't scrap it. You can always add more wood by veneering or simply laminating up some thicker stock on the back. Keep us in the loop. Even Leo had a learning curve.

I decided to glue some wood to the back routed cavity and re route. I’ll post pics once i’m done. I have another question if you guys dont mind helping me.

I routed the neck and truss rod but naively routed the truss rod after cutting the neck shape. So it was hard to keep the square to the centerline and ended up routed the truss rod cavity a little off center to the right. And I also routed it slightly deeper. About 4 mm deeper.
To fix the off-center line i put little pieces of wood on the right to center the truss rod and keep it from rattling. Is this a plausible fix?

As far as the depth goes, i’m thinking i need a filler strip or something like that?
