I'm working on the next guitar that will have a back-bolt neck. I did this once, but as it was my 1st shot at it, it needs a little refinement. That will come with this build. Specifically, the tenon was too wide.
So here's the basic rundown:
walnut neck
bloodwood fretboard
basswood body w/ maple cap
hardtail bridge, strings through the body
strat-set pups
I have PLENTY of neck blank length to work with. What would be the benefits/drawbacks of making the tenon go all the way under the bridge? As I see it, the strings would then be attached to the same piece of wood on both ends, which could be a very good thing. BUT, this might essentially negate the tonal influence of the body woods. No, not entirely, but a lot.
Thoughts?
