i know the difference between an electric top and an acoustic soundboard. my question is this. . . some of those rosewood soundboards look rather tempting. is the only issue here with thickness, carving problems? or is there other stuff i should know? will i struggle to glue em on nice and is it likely to chip out around the edges. i keep my bodies pretty flat so these could work out nice (and cheap) for what i want.

The reason rosewood isn't used for soundboards is that it's not structurally a good choice, nothing to do with difficulty. It's much heavier and less stiff than the softwoods normally used.

Are you asking whether you could use a rosewood back set for an acoustic as an overlay on an electric guitar?
If you could make it work with the thin stock (about 3mm max) that's usually provided as acoustic back sets, I suppose it would work. Not much room for any contouring and shaping, though.......

I usually seem to find the opposite problem: I'm looking for acoustic wood and all I find online are those *&^% 'drop tops' for electrics!!
