Custom SG

Iommi inspired 24 fret Sapele SG. The neck is 15 piece Sapele/Bocote/Walnut with an Bocote Fretboard with an Ziricote top

Neck : Sapele/Bocote
Fretboard : Bocote
Scale : 24.75
Frets : 24
Trussrod : Allparts double action

Body : Sapele/Ziricote Top
Tuners : Chrome Hipshot
Pickups : Handwound Mini
Bridge : Chrome Gotoh 510
Electronics : Push/Pull Volume

This started as a straight tribute to Iommi... it is now something of its own. The hand of doom.... maybe.

These are just some early photos. I will get some better ones up as I finish up.

Very cool! Nicely done. Gotta love ziricote.

Sweet! The ziricote looks great, as always, but I absolutely love the Bocote fingerboard!

Is the top dyed or stained or is that the natural look of the wood? I'm looking at some spalted maple that I was curious if I could get deep highlights like that out of.

It is a natural Ziricote top. No dye no stain.

Spalt is not going to look like Ziricote. It would be even come close with a good dye job on a piece of spalt. The only way to get the look of ziricote is to buy a ziricote top.
