I have to have it finished for a friend of mine who is taking it on tour for the fall. If i dont get this finished ill miss out on a good opportunity. [headinwall]

I was building an electric and an amp for a good friend one summer, and due to a number of unforeseen complications (most of them having to do with being in Africa for two months), I started working on both the finish and the amp cabinet nine days before leaving for college. This while working full time and preparing for school. I completed it all that Sunday morning at about 6:30 (had been working on it since Sat. morning), slept for an hour, went to church, and gave him the guitar and amp afterward. I left for school Monday morning. Both the guitar and the amp (especially the amp) turned out great.

This is a yearly issue for me. I own a couple of music stores and when school starts back I work 12 hour days, 8 days a week trying to stay ahead of everything. Yesterday (Sunday) I woke up, colored my wifes roots (saves $60 a month) mowed the lawn, went to church a 11, ate a hot dog, drove to the store and worked until 8:30. At work I caught up on bank deposits, repaired 2 cellos, 3 oboes, shot 4 coats of lacquer on a tenor uke back, defrosted the refrigerator. Today I have to place rush orders for accessories, get some used clarinets and trumpets and alto sax's ready for rental, do payroll etc, etc. If I don't plan properly and have things ready for the flock of customers demanding my time, I will loose business so this time of year is tough but I am glad the business is still there to stress about. Things could be a lot worse. Hang in there, after the rush you will have a big smile... :D

When the going gets tough . . .

For many years doing custom doors and windows in SF, the phrase,"I need the windwows by ______, the drywallers or painters are coming and we need the windows in." was my constant nightmare.

I dealt with it by making oulining all the work that needs to be done in order, then highlight all the glue ups and finish dry time so that I could easily see, this must be done tonight, or I can't work tomorrow on the next step. I also break out the work in terms of day and night, the critical work needs to be done safely in the morning, and other stuff like hand sanding can be done at night when you are less attentive.

When you get through these times, you are a better person and craftsman for it. Nothing like a deadline to get it going on.
Have fun,
Rob

You need a OLF group hug and less sleep. CA the frets and carry on

Take you some five minute breaks as well. Go too fast and you'll be running all over the place and your work will most definitely suffer.

This would have been my approach. Darned if I'd have pulled the frets.
