A friend of mine just built one and it sounds great. Here's a link to some wiring help. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/just-pickups ... p-90s.html |

Filipo, I am not sure exactly what you are looking for tonally, but here are some options that I have done or investigated (as one of my models comes stock with 3 P-90's). For starters, I wanted my guitars to have the 3 90's, and the 5 way, but come with a very controllable tonal change between the selections. Therefore, I only used the pickups and the 5 way, and did not implement any additional series/ parallel or phase selections. I used a vintage wound matched set in the neck and middle positions, and a super overwound version in the bridge to help break it up if I wanted to. I wired it Neck neck/ middle middle middle / bridge bridge That gace me the tonal variation that I wanted - with just a standard volume and treble roll off control. I believe I use250K pots with a axially metalized 0.033uF cap. I might need tgo check on this, but I did considerable experimentation here and decided that I liked this pairing the best with the what the P-90 had to offer. From there, you could go many different ways. Typically when you throw 2 single coil pickups together, their outputs are in parallel. With a push-pull, for examplre, you could switch from parallel to series (watch for the polarity of the outputs to prevent phase cancellation). Or, you could use a switch in modify the treble roll-off spectrum with additional capacitance. There are really a lot of options, but in my personal opinions, I feel that sometimes players can get lost in the details, That being said, I have removed alot of such complexity from my guitars and have focused on doing the basics really well - standard treble roll controls.... Maybe this will help. Stephen |

filippo, i'm with zieg here. do those pickups have a coil tap? or just 2 wires out? you ca get a lot out of 3 pickups without a bunch of fancy wiring. the pull pot could be used to put a pickup out of phase, which is kind of cool. nasal sound with less volume. i don't use that much myself. a |

oh, something i discovered about a couple of years ago is, oil filled tone caps. i put them in my guitars now. i think they make the git sound better. more dynamic? i don't know. i never really do. i just be tone monkey. |

I'm beginning to think that I'm dealing with an out of phase pup, how do I correct that? |

Try a 5 way switch and wire like a Strat with only 1 tone control. Forget the out of phase and series options, way nasal or way way too powerful. Have fun. |
