Post subject: | 8 string with BIG fan and a few questions regarding |
hey guys i just had a guy ask me about making him an 8 string guitar with low B and a high A here a couple days ago. to accommodate the high a i am going to have to do a big fret fan (25.5 - 22.5) and thats going to make for a few interesting problems. if an 8 string bridge is not hard enough to get ahold of already one that will allow for that kind of fan is even harder, does anyone know where i could get something like that? i am kinda thinking my best bet may be to make my own hardtail bridge out of some hard dense wood and then just buy some fender style saddles for it, but it would be nice to find something manufactured. he also wants sperzle locking tuners, anyone know where you can get tuners in quantities other than six(namely 8)? he also wants a very thin neck, so im planning to do a 5 piece laminate with dual truss rods, think that will be sufficiant? my main concern is the bridge, any resources or suggestions on that front would be helpful |

I knew this sounded familiar. viewtopic.php?f=10123&t=26299&p=353947&hilit=fan+fret+saddle#p353947 Review that thread and maybe ask some of the people who responded there for specifics. That seemed to be the multiscale crowd. You should be in good company. Best of luck! I look forward to seeing progress pictures. |
