Post subject:  Twisted Necks!!!

So maybe it's been discussed in brief throughout different threads, but if it hasn't specifically been talked about in a dedicated thread maybe we could start here. I haven't been building that long, which may be why my necks have not twisted. Not sure. Time will tell. I have only built necks that are from rift-sawn cuts. The only thing I have noticed so far is that if I don't use carbon fiber then my necks bow on the bass side of the neck. But that's a bow and not a twist..
So what in your experience causes neck twists? How do you know for sure. I was hoping to get some facts on this subject and not necessarily opinions. Although feel free to share whatever of course. I thought it would be a good discussion, even if it has been beat to death, maybe someone has something new to share.

Improperly seasoned wood, not letting it acclimate to your shop before you start working it. Change in temperature, I did some carving in a cold shop then brought the piece into the warm house to sit overnight and it was one twisted sister in the morning.

If I was using skew sawn wood for a neck I would rip it down the centre, flip one peice end for and and laminate the two halves back as one so that the inbuilt tensions cancel each other and give stability.

Cheers

Is it not true that carbon rods prevent bowing, not twisting?

If you have a bow on the bass side but not the treble side, that's indicative of a twist.

hai Fillippo,
if I go with a laminate configuration, you said go with non-PVA glues like epoxy and polyurethane are preferable, what about Traditional Hide Glue, what do you think?
thank's.. herry
