Hi Everyone, I'm on the drawing table for a project I have to build a baritone telecaster-style guitar. I was wondering if I should move the bridge or not. It's gonna be 28 5/8 scale, vs 25 ½ of the originial. I think a 3 1/8'' longer neck could be too much, and uncomfortable. Maybe should I juste leave the neck joint at the 16th fret. I will add, grosso modo, 2'' to the neck and pull the bridge 1'' back. What do you think? And what are your experiences about that? Thanks! Francis |

Hi Francis. It would be a pain to draw out, and get looking good, but I think I would enlarge the whole body. More in length than the width, maybe, and shift the bridge some. Also join the neck to the body a fret or 2 more. Gotta make up for 3" somewhere. Draw it out and see how it looks. Some day I wanna make a bari Weiss style. |

im working on a baritone at the moment, im only planning on a 27.5 inch scale on a super strat type body however. i just drew it out the way i thought it looked good, personally i like having the slightly longer neck, it makes it look a little more like a cross between a bass and a guitar, which is what it is intended to be so why not make it obvious that there is something different about this guitar? i may have moved the bridge back a little bit compared to a normal strat but not by much, (maybe a half inch or something? ) its for a metal player who wants 24 frets, so i wanted to mantain pretty optimal access up high as well. |
