Post subject:  Your baritone experiences

Hi Everyone,

I'm on the drawing table for a project I have to build a baritone telecaster-style guitar. I was wondering if I should move the bridge or not.
It's gonna be 28 5/8 scale, vs 25 ½ of the originial. I think a 3 1/8'' longer neck could be too much, and uncomfortable. Maybe should I juste leave the neck joint at the 16th fret. I will add, grosso modo, 2'' to the neck and pull the bridge 1'' back.
What do you think? And what are your experiences about that?

Thanks!
Francis

Hi Francis.
It would be a pain to draw out, and get looking good,
but I think I would enlarge the whole body.
More in length than the width, maybe,
and shift the bridge some.
Also join the neck to the body a fret or 2 more.
Gotta make up for 3" somewhere.
Draw it out and see how it looks.
Some day I wanna make a bari Weiss style.

im working on a baritone at the moment, im only planning on a 27.5 inch scale on a super strat type body however. i just drew it out the way i thought it looked good, personally i like having the slightly longer neck, it makes it look a little more like a cross between a bass and a guitar, which is what it is intended to be so why not make it obvious that there is something different about this guitar? i may have moved the bridge back a little bit compared to a normal strat but not by much, (maybe a half inch or something? ) its for a metal player who wants 24 frets, so i wanted to mantain pretty optimal access up high as well.
