what if i wire the passive pickup with a 250K double stacked pot, for volume and tone, and wire it to the jack separate of the active pot ? thanks james |

i no wiring expert so maybe someone else can chime in here, but i think that that would work fine, although i dont know if you would run into issues playing the two together. |

I would not do this myself, 'cause there is too much different in tone and power between active and passsive. You should put another active P-bass, but, if you want, you could rewire it all to get the possibility to switch 'em two on a passive mode. Check out Seymour Duncan website for many wiring diagrams, it could help you. Francis |

You can possibly run an active pickup with a 250K pot, you might get feedback issues, but I wouldn't run a passive pickup on a 25K pot, might sound muddy. It's not good to mismatch your impedances. http://www.emginc.com/pages/support Go to the "wiring questions" section, it has a response to your query specifically. |

I'm pretty sure an active pup needs a 25k pot, and passive needs 250-500k. So, you would need to have 2 volume controls as I see it. I would go with active or passive, not the 2 together. You might get varied volumes which might get to be a pain if you are playing a "show". You know, switch to active and it's way louder, etc. |
