I finished up my first carved top body today, i think it came out fairly well. I used the topigraphical routing and sanding technique. The guitar is getting close. |

What a pleasing shape. A familiar single-cut mood with a hint of soloist. |

Thanks guys, does anyone have a good way to make the bowl type spots for the control knobs? I used a router cove bit bit in the drill press but was less then impressed. Im open to ideas. |

Take a drill bit the same size as your holes for the pots.... drill thru a pice of 1" diameter wood rod.... glue the rod to the drill bit.... about 1/2 way up.... once glue is dry put the drill bit into the drill press and spin it.... use a rasp or sand paper on a block to shape the wood rod to any shape you'd like. then glue small strips of sandpaper to the wood block... works like a charm and it's cheep... it'll really only cost you a drill bit..... + you can shape it any way you'd like... from a very soft U to a hard V with a flat on the bottom... anything goes.... |
