Hello gentlemen,

I haven’t built a guitar yet. So I’m completely ignorant of many things, yet I would appreciate it if all you guys post your favorite luthiers, excluding yourself of course! I have put my favs on different categories, but please illustrate me!

The Pagellis, Brian Dean, James Condino, Orville Gibson, Ulrich Teuffel, Andy Manson, Stefan Sobell, Jersey Girl Guitars, and so on and so fourth. I really don't think many luthiers favor their work over others, or at least not hold it in a higher regard. It's more like just an expression of our personality, and no one's personality is "better" per say, just different.
Or maybe I'm just a crappy luthier..... ;) [headinwall] gaah

I can tell you this, if your first passable guitar isn't your favorite, you aren't doing it right. Build what you actually want, that is where the motivation and inspiration comes out. [:Y:]

Favorite? Hard too say - too many to choose from.

Most inspired by Grit Laskin and Michael Dresdner for their artistry and skill at the bench, Dan Erlewine for his "git 'er done" attitude, Paul Reed Smith for his sheer guts, Don Teeter for his willingness to share knowledge, Jimmy D'Aquisto for his gentlemanly manner, and Orville Gibson for being the original nutcase of lutherie.

I also must thank a local builder, Ralph Smith, for steering me into repair instead of just building. His advice provided me with a living for many years instead of a hobby.

Well said!
I should´ve said "inspiring" rather than "favourite".
I really enjoyed looking, for hours, on the art works of the luthiers you guys mentioned. Thank you both! Here are the ones you guys told me, and inspire me;
Pagellis http://www.pagelli.com/e/2instrum/e_git_fr.html
James Condino http://www.condino.com/guitar.html

Ulrich Teuffel is something else! These are guitars of the future; http://www.teuffel.com/english/guitars/ ... colors.htm

Ralph Smith made 18 string guitars, if you can tune a Floyd you can tune this; http://www.guitarplayer.com/article/197 ... uitar/4124

Post more dudes! bliss

Nice to see Ralph's work getting some press. His 18 string guitars were a bear to hold up with 18 of those heavy Grovers out there on that loooong peghead.

If I could spend time with a luthier my first choice would be John Page.

As far as major manufacturers:
Paul Reed Smith. I think his initial double cut design catapulted guitars into the 21st century.
David Thomas Mcnaught

And that's about it

From the smaller luthiers from various forums i like
Patrick Hufschmid
Virgil Guitars
Big D Guitars
WezV
Shad Peters
Blackdog Guitars

im sure there's some I forgot.
