Hallo all, I've been lurking around the forum for a long time. I have been taking classes under a Israeli luthier and we've started to get to planning the build. The guitar is gonna be a neck through with a Mahagony neck and body with a maple top. Problem is that I can't ship Mahagony out of the US. How can I get around it? Surely there are non American outguess that work with Mahagony. Another dilemma is which bridge to go for. I want the bridge to be 3 dimensional there for I thought about using the 3d-6 schaller bridge. Any thought about it or other ideas? Once there's anything to show I'll upload some pics. |

Lots of other countries grow mahogany, In fact in South America it is very common, they make pallets out of it. Is this a legal thing that you can't buy it from America? It grows in Lebanon so that is a little closer.... Also try looking for used or abused household furniture in your local area, a huge amount of mahogany has been used forever to build furniture. That over-painted old wobbly dresser at the garage sale might really be a score on some 3 or 4 quarter solid slabs...
