So here's something strange that happened to me a while back. For ta while, I was into the vintage Ibanez guitars from the late 70's, early 80's. The Bob Weir, Randy Scruggs, vine inlays, engraved pickups, all that crap. Thought they were awesome. Well, one day, I was on Ebay, saw a chrome engraved Flying Fingers pickup, from an Iceman or something, thought it was cool, so I bought it. It is the epoxy potted kind, not the beeswax version (there's two styles). I kept an eye out for the sister pickup, in case it popped up, 'cuz they're serialized and match each other. Nothing, so I threw it in a box and forgot about it. Well, about two years after that, I woke up at about 4 in the morning (this was back when I had a normal sleep schedule, before the motorcycle accident messed up my sleep schedule). I had this strange urge to search for Ibanez pickups, and lo, THERE WAS THE SISTER PICKUP! Right there on eBay, chrome, matching serial number (I grabbed the first one I bought and compared), everything! Even the condition was similar, and it was a different seller, with about 15, 20 minutes to go! So I waited until the end and snagged it. If I'd have woke up at 8 like I was supposed to, the pickup would have been sold, and I would have never known about it! Is that wierd or what? Anybody else have any strange creepy stories like this one? |

That's not crazy, it is cool! A couple of days ago I was wondering what happened to an archtop I built back in the early eighties. The next day I googled my name, and a guy named Kirk Hamilton said "I got this awesome jazz guitar built by Alan Stassforth!". Now I know where it is! |

The store I did service for was an Ibanez dealer in the 70's and 80's, and I also really like those guitars. Many of them were (and still are) just too cool. The stuff they make now just doesn't have the same vibe. If anyone has any old V2 Ibanez pickups... I loved the sound of them. |

I have several Ibanez's and love them. I had a pre Iceman Iceman back in the day. It was a Japan custom shop set neck with gold hardware, I think a 2373 Artist series, cherry and tobacco burst. Amazing tone with 2 Super 70's HBs, a Steve Miller style before the whole Paul Stanly rush. been searching for it ever since I traded it for studio time in the Miami Vice era...... Wish I could find that one again. Give me some of your luck? |

In other weird pickup news... anyone remember Mighty Mite's 3 coil Motherbucker pickup? |
