In addition to the Sprucecaster, I also picked up the Chameleon Strat and the Orange Crush set neck. Can't wait to finish them up! Have to build the necks for the strats.... The chameleon changes from SParkle Green to Pearl Blue, depending on the angle. |

I've been wondering how to get those two-tone paint jobs. Fancy. Chameleon... did I make that one? |

Apparently it's just sprayed on with a gun, or aerosols. It comes in a little tiny can, I think it goes on over primer (I'm not really sure), and is cleared over. Here's ONE manufacturer, although there are others:http://www.uspaint.com/paints/color-shifting.asp |

NIce. That Chameleon looks nice. I have one that I sprayed two years ago that I have yet to wet sand. Cant't wait! Your's looks awesome. I got my paint from Alsa Corporation. They come in spray cans and are not that expensive if you catch thier sales. |

REALLY cool Git. I love those colors that change. Are those commissions? |

sadly no, although I do have several commissions to work on at the moment I have ZERO inventory at the moment, so I made these, for when someone says "Got anything laying around that you made, so I can see?", I can say "Yeah, I made these things here. Whaddaya think?" The sprucecaster has a 50's three tone burst thing going, so it's getting the vintage Callaham hardware getup, and the Lollar Blondes. The Chameleon is going ultra modern, since it has the cool color changing finish, with the Wilkinson fancy modern tremelo, Sperzel tuners, Roasted Birdseye Maple neck and fretboard, and Lace Alumitone pickups. I may go grab an LSR roller nut and install that as well, but I haven't made up my mind. Orange Crush is getting standard Gibson Les Paul style hardware, and a pair of Rolph Vintage Pretender pickups. Should be cool, I'm excited! |

I'm assuming Moe is your finishing guy....what does he charge you for this? Does it include sanding prep? |

His website is www.moecolors.com although it has a buncha old pictures on it, he says. His prices are very reasonable to me it seems, the bodies were $200 each and the set neck was $300. That may be because I did 3 at once. I'm not sure what you mean by sanding prep. I finish sand mine to 220 grit and plop 'em off. I make sure my surfaces are as even as possible, as I find that any dips or unevennes in the lines, such as the curve on the back portion of the cutaway, or the line where the arm bevel intersects the top of the guitar, are not good looking, the finish enhances that , as I'm sure you already know (unless you've never finished a guitar body with an imperfect sanding job as I have done, which is entirely possible). When I pick them up they're shiny and beautiful. He does all the Dean USA Custom Shop pieces. |
