This is for the neck pocket, correct? Can it also be used to create the ramp on the neck end of the body?

lets just be honest here that jig puts mine to shame... although i think i probably threw mine together in under 2 hours lol. i always hate making those things.. its hard for me to measure it as productivity sometimes cuase i feel like im getting nothing done.

That is why I wanted you to make it....I don't have the patience to make one that nice, although I would love the productivity of it. I will probably end up with a much simpler one. I want mine to be able to plane my headstock angle as well and have been trying to figure that out.

No, I hate scarf joints, they are a pain to do (in my opinion) and I usually do 5 piece necks so lining up the scarf joint perfectly would be very difficult. I use a 8 degree angle and thick enough stock to make it work. Most head stocks can be done with 1.5" stock, which is also the thickness of my heel. It wastes a little wood, but worth it for me.

I have question about your jig. What is a thickness of the top rails and what is a distance from plate to the top of the rails on the zero degree position?

Pretty cool Filippo. I'll be saving this thread for the next time I build an electric, which is never so far I definitely have one on the build list though. The curly maple archtop back that I cut out left handed a few years back is going to become some kind of carve top electric.

You should sell these! I'd buy one! Just dont do Stew-Mac pricing

Are the t-tracks (or miter channels) intended solely for hold-downs? Or is there another purpose I didn't pick up on?

Hi Filippo - that is a fantastic jig, really impressive and very beautifully built. I understand perfectly how it works and what it does, but just one thing puzzles me - what is the strip of wood with notches and two steel pins in it for? It's at the heel end, near where you keep the key.

Oh how I wish you would build and sell me one of these.

I have an idea that may make the alignment easier - when I go to build the jig, I am going to try out my idea - I will of course share it with everyone, post pics etc. This is one of the elements that is slowing me down, but I am almost at the point to rout the pocket for build #2. I might have to do some inlay on my jig, just to make things pop - just kidding

Please share your alignment idea, I have built a similar jig and am about to use it but the alignment issue is keeping me from doing it so far.

Its mykas design, and ive contacted him about building me one, just never heard back, regardless, myka needs to be the one profiting from it, not stew Mac, so if he sends it in then cool, but I wouldn't want to take money from his pocket like that

If I am going to take the time to build a guitar (Right), why wouldn't I take the time to make a jig that will save me time in the long run., as well as consistency in the accuracy?



StewMac has some great products, however, if they DID have this, I would still prefer to make my own - not only to save serious$$$ (My psychic guess of the MSRP: $849 + shipping), but I like the fact of knowing how something is made - makes easier for fixing too.

I am planning on using the same concept of both designs, but will "pimp it" to my needs.

Um.....didn't you borrow Filippo's instead of building your own? Dont cast stones brother.

That's why I want one like filippos. I have a static one too that I use, just not one with an angle
