I have a wiring question for any enthusiasts out there. How can you select inner and or outer coils of two humbuckers to be out of phase with each other? From what I understand, when you have a coil split humbucker, a phase switch acts as a coil selector, either north or south coil. So lets say I want to take that north coil of the neck humbucker and put it out of phase with the south coil of the bridge humbucker? Also does anyone here know if this combination would be hum-cancelling or what combination of out of phase single coil selection would be hum-cancelling?

Well, when wiring in-phase, you need to combine coils with opposite magnetic poles facing up to kill the hum. So, if wanting to wire the coils out of phase, you would need to coils of the same magnetic polarity in order to get hum canceling.
In my experience, no matter how much I think about what new wiring scheme might sound cool, nothing can replace stringing up the guitar with the pickups in place and the raw pickup wires hanging out. Then I use alligator clips on wires to try every combination that comes to mind into an amplifier. The various resistances and reactances of individual pickups can influence the results greatly: A scheme that sounded great with two certain humbuckers can sound horrible with two different models.
I also check the combinations that sound good two ways: straight into a tube amp and through a solid state stomp box. The way that two coils interact has to do with their relative impedences and the impedence they are feeding into.
