I'm just curious if anyone has tried building a guitar similar to the Carvin hf2, the holdsworth Fatboy model. I'd be really interested in seeing the process, etc. All that "floating" stuff looks really interesting.

Here is a picture of the inside. It's the only one I can find so the poor quality will have to do. It looks like they chamber it out to me and the floating section is just carved down from the top and up from the bottom so it doesn't touch the top or back except where the bridge is mounted and of course the edges. Any more info seems to be hard to come by. How are the pickups mounted and how would they be adjustable? They are beautiful guitars for sure. I may try a similar build once I get my first one out of the way (7 string though obviously).



They don't seem to differ drastically from the general shape of the telecasters. The bottom seems a bit wider, of course the cutout is different, and the cutaway is a little longer.

Yeah...the pickups attach to the rings, and the rings to the top of the body.

I was thinking maybe into the wood like on my caparisons. I should really pay more attention to detail.

Only difference is, if the screw comes out of the pickup, it's going to be a little tougher to find the spring!
