A friend of mine has this guitar that he says is called a "Gibson American". I've been looking on the internet and can't find anything with that name. He said it was made in the ealy 80's. The headstock logo is 3 dimensional, like what you'd see on the back of a car. The back of the headstock has a serial number which I didn't write down, and "Made in USA". It's a really cool guitar and it plays and sounds great, but I can't find any info on a Gibson American.

Can anyone identify this guitar?

US-1 it is. Fancy that. It played really nice. It is a little funky looking but I like it. It's like a PRS/Jackson/strat.
