This is going to have a piezo trem, along with 3 rail pickups that will all be coil tapped, should be one of the most versatile guitars ever.

If you really wanted to make it one of the most versatile guitars ever you'd do series/parallel switches for each pickup and switches to select series/parallel between pickups. You'd also have seperate outputs for each pickup. All joking aside I reccomend you look into series/parallel switching rather than coil tapping. All the brightness without the hum. This would make it not only versatile, but a little more useful too. Just my two cents. |

Versatility, definitely! Claro walnut=not rare. Highly figured quartersawn curly claro walnut suitable for a neck that did not come a tree felled due to disease or something= sorta rare. Does that fit the description of this neck? I dunno, he didn't really describe it in that much detail. Super Strat definition=FAIL! Super Strats have only one pickup, the bridge pickup, and often come with a Floyd Rose trem, though not always. |

Claro walnut is not rare at all, 5A flame with it however is rare, and if you can't call this strat with all the features and woods super, I don't know what else you can. I will look at the parallel but I'm prolly gonna stick with the coil tapping. Sorry having a piezo along with the 3 rails that can be split into almost any configuration isn't versatile enough for some people, but it will be the most versatile in options of sounds I will have seen. |

We've always used the term "super strat" to mean just about any strat that isn't just a standard strat and looked more aggressive. Most commonly, a super strat would have 1 humbucker in the bridge and 2 single coils in the middle and neck. That's the classic super strat. The quintessential super strat is the Jackson Soloist. His 3 humbuckers definitely counts. 2 humbuckers would count. Even just removing the pickguard, putting on a nice top and making the horns a bit more aggressive would probably count, though you sorta' loose the essence of the whole notion. |

Don't let Chris poop on your parade. Your guitar is versatile. Claro walnut is not rare, but I wouldn't want to make a neck out of most of it, so it's rare to find a piece like that. If you think your Strat is Super, then it is! Doesn't matter what the word super refers to generally, it can refer to your strat specifically. |

I haven't been able to scare up anymore of this flame walnut in the right dimensions. I would encourage you to try it in a neck though, just non figured walnut, it's very easy to work with, and has the same feel and sound as mahogany. |

Looks like a great start to me Jimmy. I sure enough enjoy watching builds here so look forward to yours. In my opinion any guitar that resembles a Strat but clearly has mods such as a Floyd Rose, aggresive looks, more frets...etc. can be referred to as a "super Strat" being that there is no clear definition. FWIW. |

Actually, Fender did produce a model called the Super Strat. Here is a link to the service diagram for that model. http://support.fender.com/service_diagrams/stratocaster/013-9400_02C_SISD.pdf The previous posters are correct that it's mostly a generic term, and in fact, I believe that the Fender Super Strat was a direct response to companies like Kramer, Jackson, Charvel, etc, producing their own versions of "hot-rodded" strats. But when i read "Super Stat" in the title, the Fender model above is the one I immediately thought of. |

I was wondering when Filippo was going to come in and make a snide comment, he didn't disappoint. I understand though, you have to have your buddies back, especially in the face of overwhelming opposition, it's cool, no offense taken, it's like Chris said "people who make bogus statements tend to do so together, and often." And if anyone doubts the validity of my claim on what I am saying now, or claimed earlier, see how many of my threads either one of them responded to before I had Patrick (Hufschmid guitars) back. a "super strat" is any strat-like axe that is modified for fast '80s style shredding/metal, hot-rodded above and beyond the specs of original Fender stratocasters: flat radius neck; 24 frets; high output pickups; a good whammy bridge for dives, ala Kahler or Floyd; a locking nut...............and to take the definition a bit farther, no pickguard, and hot/bold paintjobs. i have the real deal: a 1988 HM "The Strat". and i hate it. looks cool though.

How about some good ol' fashion creative criticism, suggestions or possibly a compliment on what the guy is doing here, say "I like it" or "Really cool wood on the top there" or SOMETHING besides the 3rd grade bullying over the flippin' name. Focus people.... let's make the forum slightly useful and possibly "inviting" for other builders - just a suggestion (Like they suggest you pull a ripcord on a parachute).
