A fellow forumite from TDPRI was kind enough to hook me up with a pretty large piece of walnut. It was 9" wide x 3/4" thick x about 7 1/2' long. I had it resawn on Friday and I'll be able to get about 4 tops out of it as well as some fretboards. This same place was also having a wood sale, and I scored some mahogany and maple.

Not sure how well it shows up, but the mahogany has some nice ribbons to it, and the maple has some really great grain with a fair amount of curl as well.

I'll be able to get 3 necks each out of the mahogany and maple, and I only paid $23 total.

Oh yeah. That's actually what I put on the other tele that I built, and I love it. It's probably my favorite fret board wood now.

You can pore fill with CA or whatever if you want, but I didn't bother on the tele build because I wanted a rougher look.

I would not use walnut for fretboard, especially if it is flat/rift sawn.
