Here are some pics of the electric upright bass and the electric cello I am building. A mockup of how it will look assembled: Tops moistened to show off figure: To pick up the vibrations of each string equally, I used p-bass pickups with each half mounted on a slant. The necks after I carved them and cut out the headstocks: |

looking really cool. I build EUB's regularly (3-6 a year) but usually do standard acoustic cellos. Very interested in whatching your results with the P-bass pickups. |

My own design. The plans I drew are not very informative, just an accurate layout of the body shape and fretboard. |

did you carve your own fingerboard or purchase one. I understand they have a complex geometry. |

Very cool! I have a friend who wants me to build her a cello. I wonder if she'd take an electric. She doesn't actually play yet, so I don't really want to go to the effort of making a nice acoustic. Looking forward to seeing this one finished. |
