Hello from Texas - already 100 degrees here. What's a good method to blend a lacquered neck into the sides of a fretboard? Should I leave the sides of the fretboard unmasked any apply lacquer? I'm using one of those bland Indian Rosewood boards; I'm not sure it will take lacquer. Thanks, Dan |

I think most sand/smooth the neck shape right into the f'bd edge, then mask the finger board surface just back from the edge and seal and lacquer the neck & f'bd edge as one. |

I tape off just the playing surface of the fingerboard and let the lacquer cover the fretboard sides as well as the fret ends. I use a razor blade to trim the tape nice and flush with the edge. After curing I use a file to redefine the 45 degree angle and bevel of the frets. This removes the lacquer from the tape nicely blends with the wood. The tape can then be removed. |

Thanks, Irving. That sound's like a great way to do it. Dan |
