A friend of mine has one.

I asked him to measure the scale to see if it was 22.5 or 24 inches.

He said it was 25?? Even double checked it.

Now he wonders if it's all original.

Neck stamp reads 16JUN66B

Can anyone explain this? I'm in another state so I can't come over to see if he measured it wrong.

Is he measuring from the nut to the bridge saddle of the treble "e"?

The short ones have 21 frets, and the long ones have 22...I think.

I'll bet he measured from the beginning of the nut to the end of the bridge instead of the front of the nut to saddle. Have him measure nut to 12th fret as that takes out any compensation and should yield an accurate scale length.

Double the 12th fret measurement.

I'll let you guys know when he gets back to me. I told him to do the nut to 12th thing.
