I ordered tortise shell style pick guard material from a couple vendors recently and was disappointed to find it is made by printing a pattern and clear coating. It looks semi OK from a few feet away, but....the pattern repeats, and the colors are kind of cheesy looking.

Does anybody know a source for "real" fake material where the tortise effect is created by different color plastics mushed and swirled together? I should clarify that I am talking about the multi layer material for solid body guitar pick guards, not the single layer used on some flat top acoustics.
