Post subject:  Les Paul neck crack

My nephew had a Les Paul studio stolen and when it was returned the neck had a crack at the base of the headstock. I have some built les paul necks but have never fixed one (i'm sure that will change if i keep building them :) If you catch it early before it has completely broken can you just inject some glue into the crack with a hypodermic needle?

Hey, Dan - some yellow glue should work great if you work it into the crack. You might thin it just a bit with water. Clamp securely and let dry. Clean up with warm water later.

You can inject it but working it in with with your fingertip works well. Regular un-thinned wood glue works well. Put a dab of glue on the crack and work it into the crack by pressing it in the crack with the finger. keep doing it until it doesn't take any more.Clamp up then clean up the squeeze out with warm water.
