I wanted to show this off. The body weighs 2 lbs. and the neck weighs 1 lb 3 oz. as depicted. Playing weight should be right about 4.5 lbs...depending on the pickups. I built a great deal of rigidity between the bridge and nut so it should have very good sustain. Can't wait to play this one. |

I can see why you wanted to show it off. |

sdsollod wrote: Stuart, How do you make the indentions where the controls will go? Thanks, Steve I just draw them. On one hand I'm kind of proud to show this kind of thing off...but I'll admit that I'm always a little sensitive about displaying things on this site that are difficult or impossible to achieve by conventional means. I expect indentations like this would be a challenge to recreate using any conventional method. I have a principle that I apply to designing with cad. I'm not trying to make a LOT of guitars although cad/cam/cnc lends itself directly to that. I'm hoping to present cad/cam/cnc as an accepted category of art. Having learned to use this technology opens up a world of possibilities. These indentations allow for my volume knobs to have just that much less of a height to their profile...a design notion. This would be such a challenge to accomplish conventionally that I expect I'd give up on the idea soon after having it. With cad/cam I can follow up on these little ideas and often it isn't all that much of a challenge to pull it off. |
