hi, i'm not sure of jimi hendrix's exact setup, but is it possible to merely flip the pickups around (in their respective slots) and create the same effect without buying a left-handed guitar and stringing it backwards? thanks, shad |

verhoevenc wrote: Angle will be opposite of what you're looking for on the bridge pickup. Placement of poles along string length affects tone. That said, really depends on the pickup. What you're saying will only make a different if the magnets are staggered... Otherwise, no difference. Chris okay, thanks for the info. i'll come back to this topic whenever i near that decision. cheers! |

Which effect are you referring to? i don't know? lol over the next 12 months or so, i'll be working on making this http://lilbess.blogspot.com econo knock-off strat into a nicer guitar with a painted mural (i'm initially a fine art artist). anyway, i remember how hendrix played a right-handed guitar with strings reversed for a south-paw and i was curious if i could create the same effect. p.s. obviously, i don't understand the first thing about electric guitars. lol |

Most of the Hendrix effect came from Hendrix, not from a right handed guitar strung left handed. There's probably some difference there, but it's a small enough difference that only 5% of the population are capable of hearing it. Not all ears are created equal. |

Steve Miller played a left handed Strat to try and get the sound. Still sounded like Steve. (See the cover of the 'Fly like an eagle' album) |
