Build just for me. I wont have a quick progress on this, I am building it just when I have spare time. This guitar has my prototype Neg-X chambering system. In which I take the x-bracing of a Bashkin design, modify it a little, and route it out into the body, giving the body a lighter weight, and a different take on the chambering design, you can see more of the chambering will be taking place around where the vibration takes places, the bridge. Here is the comparison ![]() I also have a custom scale length. I am truly the first in this secret scale length, along with my chambering design. I also hand wind all my own pickups. I don't do custom orders however, I can inlay nearly whatever you want, and let you pick out the woods, but I like to retain creative control. Seems an odd business model I know, but what I really like to do, is build what I like and sell it. It's not failed me thus far as I have built 20 guitars to date. Top is some near Flawless Flame Maple, Body is a 1 piece Curly Black Limba with some gorgeous streaking and shades of orange. Neck will be Pernambuco and fretboard is Brazilian Rosewood. ![]() ![]() |

Butterflies I think would cause a little bit of a flutter, although if you put a clear window so the butterflies can be seen, that may be nice. You can put wing silencers on them as well, but that is costly. Take no offense Mr. Edwards - we want to see some more pics ! keep up the work and keep posting |

You've seen that one pic, but nothing on the custom scale length or the build itself finally getting underway. Patience Chris! |

Here is the body finish routed on the outside, got the knob holes drilled, routed out the truss rod channel, so far so good, just have to get the fretboard done and get the neck squared away then route the neck pocket. ![]() ![]() |

Ooh, I live that! Mind if I 'borrow' that for my grandson's guitar? |

Yes, I do mind actually. Not trying to be a dick, but that's my design and part of my brand. I have the copyright on that design as well as I wouldn't post it unless I did. Again, not trying to be rude, that's just a design I want exclusive to my guitars only. |

We ALL copy other designs. Martin started this whole thing off decades ago. To copy a design for personal use does not violate copyright. To copy a design for commercial use is a whole different matter. |

I had long had this design done. I did not model this out however, my CNC guy did this one. It is an EKG readout yes, specifically the QRS complex, it's missing the P wave and T wave, but 99% of the population wont know that. Also, isn't a marlin just a marlin? Who are you to be dissing my designs? |

There again, those are the same things, but not the same design. Geez. |

Okay, so maybe Jamie can borrow that idea, but not the same exact design. |

Hey, the way I play since my accident, the trace could be a flat-line. |

I just thought of a GREAT way to not have people rip off your ideas. Don't post them in a forum. ![]() That is, if they're really YOUR ideas..... |

cbrviking wrote: Ooh, I live that! Mind if I 'borrow' that for my grandson's guitar? My advice, borrow the design from any of the other EKG fretboards, that way you're not borrowing his. They look better with the full QRS complex anyway. ![]() |

Imitation is the highest form of flattery. If a grandpa wanted to incorporate one of my ideas into a guitar that is a gift to his grandson, I ought to take it as a compliment rather than feeling intimidated or threatened. |

what is the proper adequate on "borrowing" other ppls ideas. Im not sure if it was on this forum or not but I seen someone use a curved piece of aluminum on their guitar so when you sit down you dont need a strap. I love the idea and would like to use it on a tear drop style octave mando. Do you get forum abused for doing such an act? I tried google but nothing came up ![]() ![]() |
