I've got a beautiful piece of zebrano that I intend to use for the neck on my first bolt-on build. It's dang near perfectly quarter-sawn, and it's a really gorgeous piece of wood. I haven't don't a laminated neck yet, and they've come out fine, however, I've never worked with zebrano, so I don't know what to expect.... Is this wood strong enough to make a solid piece neck out of? I picture it ruining the look too if I laminate it, but I do want a usable neck.
Thanks

I am not an expert.

My opinion is that according to the Janis hardness it has a rating of 1830lb meaning it is ranked up there with other hardwoods that are plenty strong for necks. I have read it is harder to plane. Seems like a good candidate for a solid neck, with or without a scarf joint head.

IMHO, leave it solid. You could add graphite rods to ensure it won't move. Cool neck wood.

Laminate can provide a stiffer neck . The Zebrano I've worked with is quite hard so I'd consider staying close .. Walnut would make a nice combo
