Post subject:  tune o matic and wide spaced bridge pickups

Hi folks, I am no luthier by any stretch of imagination, but since I am about to purchase a set of pickups for my hard tail seven string, I will kindly need your expertise on something. so the pick up set that I am purchasing are for a wide spaced bridge (for a floating trem) and my guitar is a tune o matic standard spaced bridge, now I understand that the poles may not align perfectly with my strings. To my understanding this is only a cosmetic issue though, it should have very little or no effect at all on the tone. is this true ? can someone confirm this please. the guitar is an ESP LTD EC407 and the pickups are bareknuckle Rebel Yell (bridge) and Cold Sweat (Neck) , any input is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time. Ed

Hi Ed,
I had a six string with humbuckers.
The high E string was not aligned over the polepiece, and the string had a very pronounced volume cut.
The string was way to the side of the polepiece.
I moved the humbucker to be better centered and all was well.
I don't know if the string needs to be exactly over the center of the polepiece, but I would get it close as possible.
