Gonna whittle out an SG. Walnut top, Maple body and neck, Asian Ebony board. Gotta make some layout templates first. Always exciting starting a new build. Dan |

And there's nothing like starting with the best wood! Jeez, that's some purty stuff! |

Thanks Allan! I figure if I make 4-5 guitars a year, and I spend 50 hours on each, I can justify buying high dollar lumber. This batch cost me about $160.00. I can get two fret boards out of the Ebony. Maple and Walnut billets from Goby Wanut, neck and fret boards from Gilmer. Dan |

You just don't see flamed walnut very often. But the pattern on the maple is nice and tight too. And I love flame maple necks! Should be a stunner. |

Made the body template. I'll need to make the control covers and pickup templates as well. Sharpie pens don't work well under shellac. My wife went nuts and bought us some proper Texas-sized steaks. Happy holidays everyone! Dan |

Looking forward to your build, as always, Dan! Nice looking beef. Hopefully nobody says "well done, please" or "pass the ketchup"! Merry Christmas to you, and yours, Dan! Alex |

Got the body and neck roughed out. I plan to cut a tenon similar to a LP and use the body extension as the heel. I think this should provide ample support. I got this idea from seeing Kevin Looker's Flying V neck joint. Dan |

Got the neck joint cut. The rest will be easy. Making fret markers out of a sheet of celluloid. I ate the heck out of the steaks. Bought my daughter-n-law a plane ticket to see her grandma in Chile. That's about it. Dan |

That is some stunning Walnut, I wonder if the nuts from the tree it came from taste better? Michael Shaw has a squirrel as an avatar, maybe he knows? |

Just about ready to glue the fretboard to the neck. The weekend weather will be 80F, so I plan to get this thing going. I went with some snazzy binding to match the fret markers. I spent 8 hours cutting out the markers and inlaying. Not an enjoyable task. Dan |

Hey, looks good, Dan! I like the way you ran the figure in the walnut up, instead of down. I also really like that f.b. binding. Bling city! Reminds me of the old Nationals and the like! Alan |

It's getting there. Next steps will be cutting the body bevels, leveling the frets, then glue in the neck. Dan |
