Greetings, I had an old pacifica lying around, and as I am quite a DIY-guy, I wanted to try and make something out of it. The paintjob had some cracks, so I decided to strip the paint and go for a natural-oil finish. So as I was sanding my way to the basswood, I removed quite some layers (and millimeters). After quite some time sanding and finishing, I decided to put my neck back in the pocket, to see that there is quita a height difference since I sanded the paint. Now, my question is, should I remove some off the neck or some of the pocket. And is it safe the do it myself, or can I screw the whole guitar up and should I get some professional luthier do it for me? I'm from Belgium btw, please ignore my grammar mistakes |

Hi Bert! I think you'll be fine. The bridge has a lot of adjustment for height, and if that doesn't work, you can shim the neck to tilt it the way it works. Have fun! |

Thanks for the tip, just found some spare strings, and with some adjustments, it worked. The action however is the lowest I've ever seen (which I like), bit the last 3 frets are unplayable because of fret-buzz, but I guess I can fix that with the trust rod. |

The "truss" rod is only for setting the relief (slight forward bow) of the neck. Do not use it for setting string height. |
