Hey guys,
I saw this set of humbuckers on kijiji (the Canadian equivalent of Craigslist) and thought that they might be good for they are decent pickups and a great price. But then I wondered if it is a bad idea to buy them used. Is there anyway without installing them in a guitar to test them out?

Thanks

If that price is in Canadian dollars that might be a "good price" (assuming they are what you want). If its in American dollars then there are lots of brand new 'buckers for 50 bucks each. The ad says lots of lead left, that tells me they've been cut (of course you can solder more back on if they are too short).

What the others are saying above it to check the resistance with an ohm meter - most 'buckers are 8 or 9 Kohm, some higher, If the value is infinity there is an open in the coil.

Ok awesome I'll definitely look into them as these pickups brand new are right around 110 each in Canadian dollars. They would be a really good deal for an American because what's 100 cad in usd 0.10 or so?

As long as you know what you're getting.

note:They will require modifications to the pickguard and/or possibly the guitar as they are not standard sized p/u's.
They are larger.

The Fender MIM Seth Lover RI pickups are very good, powerful and clear.
Although there are Squire MIC versions which I am unfamiliar with.
I have tried them out last year and compared to original 70's SL's they are nearly the same JMHO.
I think 50CDN each is a good price as I've seen them go used for 50-60USD
