I recently had the chance to play the Yamaha SLG200n Silent Guitar and was very impressed. The sound was surprisingly natural under the headphones. I like the idea, but let's face it I couldn't actually BUY a guitar if my life depended on it

It got me thinking about making my own with my own neck, nut, scale length, etc. I assumed that with all the modeling out there it would be relatively easy to find an after-market pickup and pre-amp system that would duplicate the Yamaha. So far my search has turned up nothing.

Does anyone here know of a system that could reproduce the very convincing sound of these "silent" nylon guitars?

I have a steel string Silent Guitar - very early version. I like the sound - it plays great.

As for guitar modeling - didn't Variax have some acoustic sounds along with their many electric sounds?

I don't know about Variax acoustic. But I've never seen their electronics sold separate from thieir guitars. Can you build a guitar and get the Line 6 pickup and modeling preamp separate?
