(Perhaps wrong forum...) Hi everyone! I am trying to think of materials that might make cool sounds when moved up against vibrating strings. Like buzzy sounds, or cool fading-out sounds....or anything. Thoughts? |

Johnny Cash used to weave a piece of paper through his strings to make a buzzy sound chopping rhythm chords. |

Just try and avoid learning to cut a nut slot properly and you're in business.... |

Thanks for the ideas guys. But I should've been more clear. I want the sound to be controllable. The paper-under-the-bridge or Danelectro buzzy bridge (or crappy nut) get the right type of sound, but I can't manually control how MUCH buzz. The e-bow is controllable, but not the sound I'm after. I'm thinking of just attaching the material to my hand via some sort of glove or velcro or whatever, then bringing my hand up against the strings to varying degrees. |

LOL.. I would never guessed that had a thing to do with guitar building. I understand why you were thinking you perhaps had the wrong forum. Good luck with your effects glove...although I think electronics has covered that and really...hasn't electronics been the norm for changing the guitar into a synth anyway? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPSnDltXbrI Never give up. |
