I'm making a guitar for a buddy and he wants the bridge humbucker to have 500k pots and the 2 single coils to have 250k pots. But we also want just 2 knobs. 1 tone and 1 volume. How could I effectively get this result? Any tricks to get this accomplished?

I'm no expert, but what he wants ain't gonna happen with just 2 knobs.

Yeah I don't know quite enough to say so or not. I'm wondering if there is some trick we can do. Some type of resistors for stepping down to 250K for the single coils or something like that?

He had the idea of using a 250k/500k stacked pot like this and simply using a drop of super glue to attach the shafts and use one knob. I think that may work. https://www.allparts.com/EP-4585-000-CT ... _1443.html Sound reasonable?

The cap goes between the volume pot and the tone pot. If all he's looking for is the esthetics of having only two knobs, a stacked tone pot would let you run the humbucker through a 500K cap to one deck and the singles through a 250K cap to the other deck. I think he'd wish he kept the two decks separate, but that's just me.

However, you'd have to split the lead coming from the volume pot and run it into both tone pots. I don't know what this might do the whole set up though.

Would he consider two stacked pots? Personally, I'd want the versatility of adjusting both.

We're talking about it and think we know what we're going to do. We're going to use this style pot and figure out an effective way to lock the shafts and use one regular knob instead of a stacked knob. One side of this stacked concentric pot is 250k and the other is 500k. With this pot we can run the single coils to the 250k half and the humbucker to the 500k side. I think it should work.
