Hello and thanks for having me! I'm a little ways into my first bass build and have some questions about the pickups. I bought some cheap amazon pickups and would like to wire four of them each to their own volume pot then straight to the input jack. Would anybody out there be willing to draw up a diagram for me? ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Do you want switching or are you going to just turn the volume down/off? Any tone control? If you PM me an e-mail address I can scan a simple wiring diagram from a Jazz Bass and send it to you |

Seems how it's gonna have four pickups I'm going to control the tone via pickup selection. No toggles just four volumes. I've seen jazz diagrams, can I just double that and omit the tone control? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The hot wire from each pickup goes to the center terminal of its pot (the sliding contact), one end of the pot is grounded and the other (top) end is in parallel with each of the other pots to the jack. If you take the pickup wire to the top end like many single pickup guitars you'll have a problem if you turn any pot to zero - it will kill all of them. Eliminate the tone circuit. The J-bass diagrams that I have seen all use 250K pots - that is the normal value used with single coil pickup. Most humbuckers are happier with 500K (I assume thats true for basses too) and make sure you get "audio" or log taper instead of linear. |
