Hi all, So I've got myself a 1960's "Lafayette" electric guitar, really just a rebranded Guyatone LG-130T. Problem is I bought it years ago for a song and a prayer, plugged it in, I think maybe I got a weak signal on one pickup, cracked it open, found some brittle solder joints that broke and I put it away for years until now. Recently I've been trying to make room and gather some funds (it's not worth a ton but it's something) and re-soldered where I figured the joints should be. No luck. All the pickups are reading the right resistance, the switches are working, and I sprayed the connections with DeoxIt. Nada, zip, zero, no sound. Does anybody have a wiring diagram for these? I cannot find one. I'm not familiar with switches like these. Can anybody make heads or tails of what it should be? 3 pickups, 4 switches, one tone dial and one standard volume pot. For reference the 4th switch is "rhythm" but the sticker is hard to read. I did notice that only one of the pickups wasn't grounded to the switch body. I found that odd. It looks like grounding is accomplished with the pick guard and the switch plate. When assembled is there continuity between those two grounds? |

Really hard to tell what’s going on. It looks like both pickup wires are going to a switch, it appears the wires would be shorted when the switch is turned on. The common wire tied to the middle lugs of each switch would seem logical to be tied to the yellow wire going out to the jack. I’m assuming the switches are two-position slide switches. I’m guessing the hot signal is being shorted to the ground somewhere. |

The pick guards are not in contact with each other, at least by design, when mounted. I'll run through the hot leads next. You are correct, these are all 2-position switches. Thanks, and I'll update when I find the issue. |
