Mahogany top/back over Maple with Ebony. Dimarzio Air Zone and Super Distortion pickups. White/gold mother of pearl with abalone. I used a tiny 3018 cnc to cut the shell. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

So cool. The inlays are fantastic but I love the ashtray bridge, Ive never seen one on a SG but it really works. |

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk How does it sound or play with the string through and ashtray bridge do you get like more of a Tele right hand feel (palm muting et) but with (Im assuming) 24 3/4" scale more of a Gibby tone? Im curious. |

I chose the string through fixed bridge because the strings feel “tight” when plucked. I think it has something to do with string compliance, because the total string length is less than a TOM bridge and tailpiece. I really don’t like Gibsons TOM. There’s limited adjustment and it is difficult to install. This one sounds nothing like a Tele, due to the humbucker pickups. |

I ask because one guitar I have is a Gibson Nighthawk Memphis Mojo which is basically a dolled up Nighthawk with a really nice top and burst buckers. I love it because it has push pull coil splitting and a 25 1/2 scale length. This results in the ability to get Firebird and Stat like tones with the coils split. It also has a string through body config and bridge. I like string through better than stop bar and ABR because it feels like the strings vibrate the body more, the body on this guitar is poplar with quilted maple cap which is a surprisingly good sounding body and something Id like to experiment with on my own builds. we can get decently priced Lombardy around here. |
