Post subject: | Re-Lacquer after buffing ? |
I have been buffing out a finish and using buffing compound and have buffed through at one spot . . Now I have to re- spray the neck and headstock . Since I have used a buffing compond , do I need to clean it with somthing befor respray and if yes , whats recommended ? This is first time ive had to do this , dont wanna mess it up further . Also , On my mandos , I have been using about a pint of laq. , how much do you spray , am I being to "thrifty" with the laq. ? Is this why I Buffed through, not enough coats ? Please chime in with your suggestions . |

Wipe it down with naptha and give it a light sanding prior to spraying again. |

James... +1 on Jim's recommendation. And, it is not how much you put on... but how much you leave on. I know that doesn't help, but I heard a very famous mando builder say it once and had to chuckle. Good luck! Maybe a spirit varnish next time? Can't wait to see it! |
