Correct me if I'm wrong, but this Ukelin is from the 20's, right? American manufacturing was growing like a weed in those days, and believed they could make anything - even instruments that had no history, and therefore - no players, and no music written for them. And yet, there was a market. Weird. Find me a known ukelin player, or ukelin instruction book, and I'll buy you a hat so I can eat it. We've probably seen lots of these phantom instruments before... on eBay, at garage sales, on walls collecting dust, the trash... I remember a client bringing in what looked like a common zither, but it didn't have the usual cross-string damping pads that formed chords. Instead it featured a picking attachment, with a corresponding linkage that sent a metal slidebar up and down the strings with each strum. The end result was a constant zooming of notes up and down the strings, with no way to individually select a note. The player could not form chords or melodies, just this endless zooba, zooba noise that was entirely useless. They were a waste of wood, metals, and other materials... but some knucklehead bought them back in the day. Trivial rant over. |

From what the label says on this one it is early 1900's made in new jersey and sold new for $30.00 so in 100 years it has gained $11.00 in value Now theres a real investment ! I really dont care about the trivials , I like the look of odd instruments. |

Actually, upon further reflection on the subject, I would like to see you eat a Von Dutch hat. The world could do with one less of those. Wud, every video I saw had a bow. I see a new project on the horizon! Posted using letters to form words, sentences and thoughts. |

I kind of want one after seeing the vid, but them I'm the guy who innocently reinvented the guitar banjo as my first build at 19. (That was a few years ago) |

I'll bet you could play it with dulcimer hammers -- if you can figure out how to tune it! |

I found one in the original box and in fully original condition...with the bow, rosin, music stand, and instruction book...for $25.00 at an antique store in Massachusetts. I donated it to the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, CA. There is a small cult of ukelinists...and you can even get new string sets...for more than the ukelin is worth. |

How would you describe the tone of that instrument? Dulcid? no no. Maybe gawd-awful? |

Cool, sorta like a fancy dulcimer. I wondered what the hoop things were for. i liked the sound until the guy started playing the high pitch whiny part at the end. |
