Here is my latest build, a ziricote tenor. This was my first chance to work with ziricote. The depth of the wood under the UV was impressive. Almost digital looking. - Ziricote back and sides - Spruce top - Ziricote fretboard & bridge - Maple bindings - Gotoh Stealth tuners - UV cured finish Thanks for looking! I plan to give it a week or so to settle in and then record a clip. I still use a fan brace pattern as well. This one I actually took the top back off of it after closing the box initially. The tap on the body sounded completely dead at first. I shaved the height down a couple mm and put the peak back on the braces. It helped, but it’s still stiff sounding to me. I forgot to mention that my second ukulele from scratch was granadillo back and sides with mahogany sound board. Standard thickness, .07-.075, and it also seemed muffled until I installed fluorocarbon strings and played it pretty hard. Sound got better in a week or so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's about the best looking Ziricote back I have seen. Nice job and lovely material selection Ed |

Ruby50 wrote: That's about the best looking Ziricote back I have seen. Nice job and lovely material selection Ed Thanks, Ed! That means a lot. The set came from our friends at Hibdon Hardwood. The finish and porefill are clear. The ziricote doesn’t typically need a filler but I did a couple thin coats anyway. It’s wild looking, I keep describing it as digital looking. Appreciate the feedback. Take care! Brad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
