Post subject:  Introduction and starting my first build

Thanks for admission to the forum. I am sure I will benefit from your luthiery experience and in turn post lots of pictures and give folks a laugh now and again. In any case I am a transplanted trumpet player, turned electric guitar player, turned more and more an acoustic guitar player. So much so that my cheap Fender DG-60 needs a partial refret and I just decided to dive in head first and build, hopefully a nicer instrument. In any case I already have a tablesaw, jointer, planer, clamps, drill press, hand planes and soon a bandsaw so with the exception on jigs I think I am pretty tooled up to start. I have already begun to put together what will be an OM style guitar with some atypical woods(because I had them on hand and I won't have as much regret with maple as rosewood on my first build). I attached some photos of a lamination of maple, cherry, and walnut veneer I am hoping to use as a neck blank. It is 3" x 4" x 33". I also have six maple sides thicknesses to 1/10" x 4-1/8" x 33". I made six because that is what the board yielded and I figure when I bend it there will be a pretty good learning curve and I will pick out the best two for my project. The back will be the wide boards below the thinned sides. I will resaw them when I get a bandsaw soon. Thanks again for putting up this forum and participating. Looking forward to your comments.

Post subject:  Some small progress

10"x24"x3/4" form blanks cutout. Time to glue them up and draw the template out and wait for my new bandsaw to arrive to cut out the forms.

Thanks working that direction. Wore out the frets on my cheaper laminated Fender guitar and making one to replace it. An OM style Martin.
