I will build a maple parlor for my niece from the S. Antes plan. I picked up some tiger maple cheap that will hopefully look good stained blue (her favorite color). I'll post some pix later in the week when I get started. |

Okay so here's what I have so far: Maple back/sides (I've re-sawn from a 4/4 piece) - $20 Maple neck w/Sycamore laminate - $6 Engleman top (student grade) - $18 Misc (spruce/maple) bracing material - $5 Aniline die (my Niece wants a blue guitar) - $3 Sycamore headplate, rosette, and end graft - $8 White plastic binding or Sycamore (haven't decided) - $10 Maple lining - $3 Maple bridge plate - $3 Tuners - probably Sta-Tite - $41.11 That leaves me around $30 for finishing, probably shoot nitro. Photos shortly, I won't post my re-sawing skills or lack there of but I will show the wood prior to bending and glue up. |

I gotta ask...what's your username about? Are you a Northwest employee? |

I always figured he was a Northwest fly fisherman - but now I notice the AZ for location... |

John is correct I'm a NW fly fisherman I lived in the Seattle area for about 16 years and lived for fly fishing. Now I'm stuck in AZ with the dead carcasses, flies, heat, and dryness that's not great for building guitars. It's a user name I've never changed still love to fly fish. A couple shots of my maple being thickness sanded and ready for bending. |

Filippo Morelli wrote: Maybe you can fly fish for tarantulas? Filippo You'd be surprised that isn't too far fetched. My wife has arachnophobia and we probably have at least 6 to 10 tarantulas a summer come through our yard completely freaks her out. It used to be that I had medication for her because when she saw one she was out of it for several hours. Sad part is that they are good to have around as they keep the scorpions from coming in the house...ahh Arizona who wouldn't want to live here. |

I had some good progress between last night and today, sides bent, neck & heel block in, got the radius sanded on back and top, and got some of the liners glued in. I hope to finish up the liners tomorrow and start bracing the back. Here are a few pix: |
