Mine will be one of my Po'Boy models, which is based on a pre-war Gibson L-00 model. As these were very cheap guitars to begin with I think it will be a good base platform to work from.
A design I've been anxious to try is a "Soprano" guitar. No, it does not involve organized crime....
As some of you know I like to experiment with different scale lengths and tunings, which has resulted in my Alto model. It is intended to be tuned down 2 full steps from C to C.
This time I'll go the other direction and go up 2 steps and tune from G to G. It will be exactly as if you've put a capo @ 2. So a 1st position E chord shape will be a G chord, an so on.
Preliminary sketches look like I'll base it on a 25.7 scale starting @ 2nd fret. 13 frets clear of the body.
Wood will all be lumberyard stock that I'll re-saw, including the Sitka top. I may have to 3 or 4 piece the top, but that's okay for this project.
Finish will be hand rubbed gel polyurethane, maybe a hand rubbed burst as well.
Fingerboard and bridge will be plain Jane rosewood, binding and inlays basic plastic.
Should be fun.
I'll work up the cost breakdown when I rustle up the materials.
Ciao!
