I've been looking for a source for 4mm truss rod nuts for import guitars. I've had quite a few come through the shop that are stripped and in need of replacement, and I've never had a good way of dealing with it. Anyone have a source? The closest I've found is the 9/64" truss rod nuts that LMII sells. StewMac doesn't have anything, nor do my usual parts suppliers. |

Your local friendly hardware stores often have whole shelves of fasteners and 'stuff' of all kinds that can be purchased singly. Depending on how deeply the store is stocked, they might have metric nuts and bolts and washers in the inventory. The one near me stocks metric fasteners. Each merchant can stock what he wants and the salesman keeps the stock filled, so each store can be unique. But I've had many happy hours cruising the partitioned drawers looking for something I couldn't live without. |

Not going to find those at your local hardware store. Don't know of any one selling much other than the standard Gibson or fender replacements. You could always make your own. They would most likely need to be adjusted by a screwdriver or standard socket instead of an Allen wrench. |

Looks like the one below and requires a 4mm allen wrench to adjust. It's narrower than the standard ones you can get that adjust with a 5mm or 9/64" wrench, and is very common on cheap import guitars. Hardware stores don't have anything like it. |

You might give the folks at LMI a call and ask them. The one you picture looks much like the one they use in the ["USA made"] truss rods they sell, also 4mm. MJ |

Their nuts all use 9/64" wrenches, but the dimensions look right. I was focused on the 4mm spec and didn't even look at the important dimensions. |

I get 'em from Martin, although I haven't tried lately. . . |
