Post subject:  Need Help Diagnosing Gibson ES Electronics Issue

Hi folks, it's been a while since I've posted here, but I need a bit of help. I have a Gibson ES-150D that I'm having a bit of an issue with. When amplified, I'm getting some signal break-up when picking the strings more aggressively. It's not an issue of volume, it's an issue of how the strings are attacked with my pick or fingers. When played softly, there is no problem. It's almost as if there is some kind of signal overload. Any idea of what can cause this and any possible fixes?

I hope I've explained the problem well enough, but please let me know if there's any other info I can provide that may help!

This may just be speculation, but I would check all the solder points from the pick up through to the output of the guitar to start with. You may have a cold solder joint that becomes intermittent with the stronger vibrations produced when the guitar is played harder.
