ive got a guitar i did a while ago thats dyed vaneer over mohagany....i was still learning when i painted it, the finish over the vaneer is real bumpy as i didnt sand the sealer flat enough...& I would like to sand it flat & re-clear it, what would be the best way to do this?
do i need to sand all the clear off & re dye it? is there anyway to try to just sand it flat & re-clear it without having witness lines left to clear over?
the mahogany on the back was not grain filled well either....think maybe i can zpoxy the whole thing then sand that flat & reclear it?

You may sand it flat and apply new finish, just remember it will need a mechanical bond so I wouldn't use anything finer than 320. You will not have witness lines as long as the new finish put on top is thick enough to be leveled and buffed. I suspect that if you have a decent coating weight on the instrument now that the mahogany can be sanded flat and the finish itself will fill the pores.
